So this is the start to a weekly blog. This past week started with the first week of the institute. There were 10 students. A friend of ours, Peter Grover, was here to help with the teaching. He taught Exodus. Also the week before we had a short conference for the students who graduated in February and any others who wanted to join in. Peter taught 6 classes on Old Testament interpretation.
Across Peru, in various degrees there has been a lot of unrest and strikes for different reasons. It was more severe in the jungle. In Trujillo, there have been threats of a transportation strike, meaning no taxis or buses on the road and potential violence and blockades, especially at round abouts. This is especially frustrating as Rich has taken Peter back to Lima and is unsure if he will be able to return Tuesday overnight. But God is in control and knows the situation.
The couples Bible study has been gradually shrinking in number, so we decided to relaunch it with the movie 'Fireproof'. There were about 70 people who came out to see it and about 15-20 couples interested in doing the 6 week follow-up study. We thank the Lord for the enthusiasm and trust He will use the studies to strengthen marriages.
The youth group is continuing to go well, especially the Bible study on Sunday afternoon. The last couple of weeks, there has been a new girl coming, who has been asking lots of good questions. They have recently started a series on Genesis.
Couldn't finish without giving an update on Lucas. He is growing up so quickly and is able to do and say more each day it seems. This is challenge for us to be one step ahead of him. He has already climbed out of his crib and got out the front door (don't think it was closed tight). He's saying more words, which are mostly Spanish - agua (water), leche (milk), hola (hello), banana, hello. He seems to like things in order, so if there is a coaster on the table, will put his cup on it; or if he spills something, he likes to get his blankie and clean it up. But he is a normal child and likes to overturn buckets of toys or blocks, etc...
Well, I will leave it there for now to not make it too long and will update you all next week if not before.
