Well, it's taken me a few days to catch up after the ladies retreat. It was an excellent week-end with around 100 ladies attending all or part of it. The theme was 'God's grace in my life'. There were four main sessions, each focusing on a different area. So there was what is grace?, grace and my family, grace and the church and grace and my world. After each session, we broke up into smaller groups to work through some questions based on the message. In my group, there was a lady who has only been a Christian for 3 months and her husband a little less than that. She's from one of the church plant on the outskirts of Trujillo. She and others were very encouraged to be with so many other Christian women. We also had some workshops ranging from candle making to evangelizing children. I did one on baking, which was a bit of a challenge as I couldn't use the stove, oven or microwave. I did find a no-bake oatmeal cookie recipe which went down well. There was a little of 20 for the workshop but I think about 30 put their names on the list. I was in charge of the money and the dining room. I am thankful to the Lord that we ended in the black with 1 sol ($0.40). Looking after the dining room reminded me so much of my many years experience at Guelph Camp. Saturday evening, we had a nice time of fellowship around the fire, singing, reciting verses, acting out different stories from the Bible of examples of grace and finished off with roasting hot dogs. All in all, it was a very encouraging week-end. I think all of us went away feeling refreshed spiritually and challenged to put into practice what we heard. Hopefully those around us have seen us showing more grace.
Thankfully, Lucas didn't come with me, so I was able to get fully involved. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the guys seemed to manage just fine. Although, Lucas didn't want much to do with me on Monday. He is definitely getting more attached to Rich which makes for a nice change. He also now has all his teeth, so no more teething until the 2-year molars start coming in! Yeah!! His vocabulary is expanding loads right now and he repeats a lot as well. We've started spelling things already so he doesn't know what we're talking about.
On the photos page I put a link to the album of pictures from the retreat on my Facebook.
