Once again, many apologies in the delay in blogging. No point in listing excuses or promises.
We enjoyed a visit from Richard's parents in March. They were with us for almost 3 weeks. The kids enjoyed the extra attention. We held off Lucas's birthday party for them to be here and bring some Octonaut paraphernalia(his favourite show on CBeebies). Also had a few days away at the beach which was a nice relaxing time.
School - Lucas is at a new school this year. It does an international certificate which is our main reason for switching. We were on the waiting list since last February, but we weren't sure he'd get in. There are 18 in his class and two other 4 year old classes, so it's a much bigger school. For the first 10 days he seemed to enjoy it and stayed, no problems, but I was taking him all the way to the classroom. After a parents meeting, I tried to encourage him to walk the path the length of a football field and he got upset and has tried to cling on to me everyday since. Now the teachers have said we have to start leaving him a bit closer to the main gates each day. We'll see how that goes.
On Friday, we had our first experience of 'ER/A&E' if you can call it that. Got a call from the school to say that Lucas had slipped and fell and banged his head around 9:30 but wasn't feeling well. Went and got him and he looked in pretty rough shape, so took him to the private clinic that was covered with insurance we have through the school. Minutes after arriving in the waiting room, he projectile vomitted which got us a quick pass into the treatment area, thanks to the teacher who came with us from school. He was very sleepy and barely wanting to talk. The neurologist ordered a X-ray to make sure there was no skull fracture, but the X-ray machine wasn't working so we had to go to another clinic by ambulance. By the time we got back from that, Lucas was getting better and more responsive. The neurologist saw the results then wanted him to have a CT scan just to make sure. Once again, we had to go by ambulance to another place to get that done at 2pm. After that, we waited for a few hours for the neurologist to come back to say that Lucas was fine. He was almost climbing the walls from boredom by that point. The best part of the day for Lucas was the soft blanket on the stretcher in the ambulance. Needless to say, it was a long day, but we are very thankful it was not more serious and we were able to get it all checked out to make sure. I did ban him from the trampoline at a friends house the next day, which he took alright.
Will leave it there for today. Until next time...
